Altdorf Match - Numéro spécial Games Day

Scykhe: Gaunt's Ghost series is one of the longer running series we
have in France and we are all wondering about the future of the
series. Where are you going to lead the Ghosts? And will there be
more spin off around the Sabbat's World Crusade?

Dan: There are at least two more books to come after Salvation’s Reach, which will be published this autumn. That will end out the fourth arc of novels, which is called The Victory. After that, I have ideas for at least two or three more books that may round the series off, but I have only planned in detail to the end of The Victory, and the story definitely continues after that - for some of them! I also hope, sometime, to write some books about Ibram Gaunt as a young cadet - prequels!

Scykhe: Speaking of the Sabbat's World Crusade, even if this event is
happening in the "past" of the current timeline we don't know the
result. Have you a global scheme for the crusade or is the crusade
'living' in your head and changing with your work?

Dan: A little of both, actually. Ihave a generla long term plan, but it evolves.

Scykhe: Besides Commissar Gaunt, you are also known if France for your
work on the Inquisition. We have heard about a project that will
reunite Eisenhorn and Ravenor. Is this project still on the way? If yes can you say a little more about it?

Dan: I plan to start writing a third and final Inquisitor trilogy this year. It will be called the Bequin Trilogy, and will essentially be Eisenhorn versus Ravenor. In the end, there will be a trilogy of trilogies, you see. There will also be some new short stories and original audio dramas.

Scykhe: You are also working on the Horus Heresy series which you began
with the great Horus Ascension. Each novel of this series allows us to discover some secrets of the roots of the 40K universe but we are also all waiting to discover the battle of Terra and all the revelations that could come with it. Can you tell us more about the future of the series?

Dan: The series continues apace, and we are in the depths of planning it., It is a mammoth undertaking that will last many years! My next novel is called Know No Fear, and is the story of the Battle of Calth. I am really looking forward to it.

Scykhe: Have you scheduled to begin new series in the 40k or Warhammer
universe? And more generally what are your futures projects besides the current series you are working on?

Dan: With Gaunt, Horus and the Inquisitors, I’m pretty booked up, but I have plans for some Warhammer fantasy stuff in the near future. Some more Darkblade, amongst others. I also have plenty of comic work to do for Marvel and DC, a screenplay or two, and a few novels for other publishers!

Scykhe: I suppose that you are always asked the same kind of questions. So
to change a little, which question would you ask to yourself? And
which question would you ask to your French readers?

Dan: I guess I’d ask myself where I find the time to do everything - and I can’t answer that! I’d ask the French readers... which of my characters or series works the best in French?
